In more detail, the cape and jacket are made from nut-brown velvet fabric and decorated with rich gold braids and colorful crystal buttons. The jacket fastens with Velcro at the front, and its collar and sleeves are made of gold metallic fabric, making the costume truly stand out!
The trousers, or hose, are crafted from gold and brown velvet fabrics, sewn together piece by piece, and trimmed with additional gold braids. In total, the trousers consist of 32 fabric sections, contributing to their voluminous appearance. Both the waistline and knees are elasticated for a comfortable fit.
This well-made costume is completed with a matching beret featuring gold trim and satin lining. Please note that the feather on the hat is not included.
The title Duke of Venice is often used interchangeably with the title Doge of Venice, though historically, "Duke" was not the formal title in the context of Venice. The title Doge (from the Venetian word Doxe, meaning leader or chief) referred to the elected head of state and leader of the Republic of Venice. Therefore, there was no distinct "Duke of Venice" separate from the Doge, as the Doge essentially held a leadership position equivalent to a duke or a prince within the city-state.
